Capital Project Planning and Delivery (CPPD), located within the Department of Public Service Delivery, is responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of capital projects for the Province of Manitoba. CPPD develops, implements, and manages innovative project delivery strategies and financial methodologies. The key objectives of this business area include:
- Providing leadership and expertise in project management for capital project planning, coordination, and the delivery of approved capital infrastructure projects.
- Offering both internal and external professional and technical services related to capital project planning, design, procurement, and the management of construction contracts.
The Department of Public Service Delivery (PSD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to join their team and contribute to the management of their portfolio.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5I or 5F driver's licence (without restrictions).
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the province (including overnight stays) as required.

- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position for extended periods of time (e.g. working alone, operating equipment, exposure to varied weather conditions, crawling, climbing ladders & scaffolds, vibrations, noise, dust, lifting up to 25kg, and wearing personal protective equipment).
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Completion of post-secondary education (including Interior Design, Architecture, Facility Management and Engineering) and / or a technical college certificate (Project Management, Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience coordinating and planning all phases of construction and facility-related projects, including defining project scope, budgeting, scheduling, tendering, implementation and providing ongoing technical advice.
- Extensive experience in the field of project management, including design and construction of vertical infrastructure, contract management and managing interdisciplinary teams.
- Working knowledge of building codes, standard building technology, construction practices, and architectural / mechanical / electrical principles.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and review construction-related documentation, drawings and specifications.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective client relationships.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills including communicating with diplomacy and tact.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities with competing timelines.
- Experience using Microsoft Project or similar project management tools.
- Working knowledge of Provincial Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines.
Duties:
This position is an integral part of the Project Management team, concurrently managing numerous multidisciplinary projects. This is a complex project coordination position, with responsibility for projects from the planning stage through to project completion. The position also involves coordination of private sector Consultants and Contractors, public sector professional disciplines, and other related services. The position functions at the most senior professional level in the field of architectural / engineering / interior design technology, requiring an individual with both technical design and management abilities who is fully experienced in building construction.
