Reporting to the Director of Major Construction Projects, the successful candidate will provide support to the overall project coordination in planning, detail development, and ultimately construction. The incumbent will assist the Project Manager and Director by identifying potential risks and resolving technical issues related to technical components, interpretation of project specifications, drawings, system integrations, and communications related to cost, schedule, safety and quality for the Destination Project II ( DPII ) and Southern Alberta Medical School ( SAMP ) construction.
The successful candidate will also develop and maintain excellent working professional relationships with our university employees, Prime Consultants, Project Team, Sub-Consultants, and Construction Management through defining scopes of work, clarification of quality, inquiries and schedule progress of the Major Construction Projects department.
Due to the complexity, shifting priorities and scope of assignments, this position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to track and schedule activities and manage multiple tasks proficiently with shifting priorities.
This Project Coordinator position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality, possessing strong oral and written communication skills and being proficient in various computer programs essential for the role. They will maintain data collection of communication channels, meetings, transcribing information per functional programming and construction validations throughout all project phases.
Position Qualifications
Along with strong organization and planning skills, the successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a university setting or a program with project management focus.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated their ability to interact with stakeholders in a post-secondary community and have a background with Microsoft Excel. Formal Project Management training would be an asset.
