Job summary

Western Integrated Electrical is seeking a professional Project Coordinator to support the delivery of electrical projects in Burnaby. You will work closely with Project Managers, field staff, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of project coordination experience, strong MS Project, Excel, and Word skills, and a practical understanding of electrical construction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee project activities with field staff and suppliers.
  • Ensure work complies with Western Integrated policies, standards and safety requirements.
  • Assist with pre-planning and preparation activities.
  • Assist Project Managers with pricing, budgeting, and change orders.
  • Coordinate communication with customers, suppliers, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Create purchase orders and negotiate supplier pricing.
  • Develop and maintain MS Project schedules with PM input.
  • Coordinate permits with Electrical Safety Authority.
  • Schedule drivers and couriers for timely deliveries.
  • Analyze costs vs estimates and advise on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor billing and provide monthly status updates.
  • Prepare project billings per company standards.
  • Assist with close-out documents and manuals.
  • Provide admin support to Project and Operations Managers.

Summary

We are seeking a professional, organized, and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support the successful delivery of electrical projects. As a key member of the project team, the Project Coordinator will work closely with Project Managers, field staff, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate project activities and help ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company and industry standards.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and team player who is comfortable taking initiative, managing multiple priorities, working with project details, and supporting projects in a fast-paced environment.

What you will be doing:

As a key member of the project team, the Project Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of electrical projects. Some key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and oversee project activities, including liaising with field staff and coordinating materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure all project work is completed efficiently and in accordance with Western Integrated policies and standards, industry standards, and applicable safety requirements
  • Participate in project pre-planning and preparation activities
  • Assist Project Managers with pricing, cost, and budget estimates, as well as tracking and administering change orders
  • Support communication and coordination with customers, suppliers, electrical engineering consultants, and internal teams throughout project delivery
  • Purchase materials and tools for projects, negotiate pricing with suppliers, and create purchase orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in MS Project with input from the Project Manager and create and schedule work orders
  • Manage project permits and coordinate requirements with the Electrical Safety Authority
  • Coordinate company drivers and external couriers to ensure materials and tools are delivered to job sites on time
  • Analyze and audit project costs against estimates and advise management on opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiencies
  • Monitor and report on project billing and provide monthly project status updates
  • Prepare project billings in accordance with company standards
  • Assist with project close-out activities, including compiling electrical manuals and completing required documentation
  • Provide administrative support to Project and Operations Managers, including contract documentation, permits, purchase orders, file maintenance, and updating customer portals
What we need from you:
  • 1–3 years of experience in project coordination or a related role
  • Experience working on electrical projects is preferred
  • Experience or education in electrical project management is considered an asset
  • General construction knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of the electrical contracting industry, including materials, tools, and equipment
  • Experience with estimating or project management software is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Excel, and MS Word is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional, approachable, and customer-service-oriented manner
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
