Job summary

Western Integrated Ltd. in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. You will report to the Financial Controller and contribute to month-end close, financial reporting, and strategic analyses in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Business, ASPE knowledge, and strong Excel skills. Experience with NetSuite and CPA or equivalent is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business.
  • ASPE knowledge required.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite preferred.
  • Full-cycle financial statement preparation experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Word/Outlook/PowerPoint.
  • CPA or equivalent designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly/annual financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Prepare management reports and analyses for senior leadership.
  • Maintain financial databases/ERP (NetSuite) and employee/project records.
  • Support data-driven decision making through reporting.
  • Payroll oversight and processing journal entries.
  • Oversee AR, including invoicing and troubleshooting.
  • Review sales tax returns and payroll deductions.
  • Coordinate and prepare corporate tax filings.
  • Support audits and liaise with external auditors.

Summary

Reporting to the Financial Controller, our team is seeking a professional, detail-oriented individual who has excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills. This individual must be comfortable in a multi-tasking environment as well as willing to be a team player in conducting all aspects of the job, including ad-hoc projects. We are looking for an organized go-getter who doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and digging into the details.

What You Will Be Doing

As a senior member of the team, the Senior Accountant is an integral part of the accounting team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliation, and monthly continuity schedules preparation.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and variance analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic management reports and analysis for senior leadership.
  • Assist in maintaining financial databases / ERP (Netsuite), maintaining employee and project records.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and assessment of underlying reporting to streamline data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Payroll Oversight, process payroll journal entries, review payroll bi-weekly high level review.
  • A/R Oversight, maintain processes and controls, assisting AR with troubleshooting, assist AR in processing of progress invoices.
  • File and review sales tax returns and payroll source deductions.
  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of corporate tax filing.
  • Support audit processes, liaison with external auditors and prepare audit schedules and supporting as required.
  • Assist with annual planning and budgeting process.
  • A/P & Purchasing Oversight, maintain processes and controls, assisting AP & Purchasing with troubleshooting and complex issues.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and other financial analysis and reporting as required.
  • Other accounting duties, as required.
What We Need From You
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within at least 1 year working in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Accounting/Business major.
  • Solid knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Experience with ERP system, particularly Oracle NetSuite, is preferred.
  • Full-cycle financial statement preparation experiencerequired.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational ability and problem-solving skill.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written as well as verbal) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a professional and competent manner.
  • Able to adapt to change and learn new processes as the business evolves/develops.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, handle high volumes, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Team player with positive attitude who takes initiative and has a strong work ethic.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks with high degree of accuracy, efficiency, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
