Job summary

PMI-SAC is seeking a Project Controls Coordinator III to join our team in Canada. The role supports full cost and schedule control across the project lifecycle, with a hybrid work model in Edmonton or Calgary and an ASAP start.

Responsibilities include generating analyses and presentations, assisting scope management and financial health reviews, tracking KPIs, and developing gating controls and templates for project managers.

Qualifications

• University degree or technical diploma in engineering or finance/accounting related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years of Project Controls or Project Management experience.
• Extremely high proficiency in MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, graph generation, sumifs).
• Working knowledge of Power BI and Power Pivot.
• Experience with EcoSys; familiarity with Oracle/SAP preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communications; strong problem-solving skills; able to lead.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Provide full Project Control Management, including cost/schedule development and control throughout the full lifecycle of projects.
• Generate regular and ad hoc analyses with graphs, tables, and presentations.
• Support Project Engineer/Manager in Scope Management, reporting on scope definition and change control.
• Track incurred costs, indirect costs, and compare to budget and monthly forecasts.
• Prepare expenditure profiles, workforce histograms, and monthly forecast summaries.
• Offer estimating support to other cost-management departments; monitor KPIs and improve execution.
• Develop templates. policies & procedures to help PMs implement gating controls.
• Prepare project status with variance analysis for Senior/Project Management.

Title: Project Controls Coordinator III

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 1 year (with the possibility of extension)

Location: Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB

Work Model: Hybrid (Mon, Tues, Thurs in office)

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day; 40 hours per week

SCOPE

• Provide full Project Control Management, consisting of cost/schedule development and control during the full lifecycle of projects.
• Generate regular and ad hoc analysis including graphs, summary tables, and presentations.
• Assist the Project Engineer/Manager in Project Scope Management by providing insight into scope definition, verification, change control and financial health of projects.
• Work with internal team to understand incurred field costs and Stakeholders for indirect costs and compare against budget and monthly forecast values.
• Prepare expenditure profiles, work force histograms, comparative capital cost estimates for projects and total program monthly forecast summaries.
• Provide estimating support to other departments’ cost management for internal cost controls.
• Track Key Performance Indicators and work with groups to improve overall execution of projects.
• Develop templates, examples, and policies & procedures to assist the project managers to implement Gating Controls Process.
• Prepare project status with variance analysis and reasoning for Senior and Project Management.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• University Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering or Finance/Accounting related fields. Other post-secondary education may be considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of Project Controls or Project Management experience is required.
• General understanding of pipeline operations.
• Extremely high proficiency in MS Excel required (v-lookups, pivot tables, graph generation, sumifs, etc.).
• An ability to distill large sets of data into easily understandable analysis.
• A working understanding of Power BI and Power Pivot.
• Software experience with MS Office Suite and Oracle/SAP.
• Strong experience with EcoSys.
