Responsibilities

• Establish project requirements, technical criteria, and output specifications with clients.
• Review drawings, specs, and construction documents for compliance.
• Provide architectural oversight through design, documentation, CA, and construction.
• Identify and resolve compliance issues and technical concerns with the project team.
• Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and site inspections.
• Review RFIs, submittals, and changes from a compliance perspective.

The Company

Our client is an established multi-disciplinary architecture, engineering, and planning firm delivering complex projects across a variety of sectors. They are looking to add an experienced Project Compliance Architect to their Toronto team.

This is a specialized opportunity for a technically strong architect with experience in project compliance, client requirements, design review, and construction administration. Experience with public-sector or institutional projects is preferred.

The Role

The Project Compliance Architect works with clients at the outset of projects to establish project-specific requirements and develop the output specifications that define how the building is to be designed, delivered, operated, maintained, and perform.

Once the design team is engaged, you will oversee compliance with these requirements throughout design development, construction documentation, and construction. Working closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and the client, you will review project documentation, identify compliance issues, and provide technical guidance through Contract Administration and construction.

• Work directly with clients to establish project requirements, technical criteria, and output specifications.
• Review drawings, specifications, consultant documentation, and construction documents for compliance with established requirements.
• Provide technical and architectural oversight throughout design, documentation, CA, and construction.
• Identify and resolve compliance issues, deviations, and technical concerns with the project team.
• Participate in design reviews, client meetings, construction meetings, site reviews, and project inspections.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, substitutions, and changes from a compliance perspective.
• Ensure the completed project remains aligned with the client’s requirements and applicable standards.

What's Required

• 9+ years of professional architectural experience.
• Registered Architect in Canada or eligibility for registration.
• Proven experience in project compliance or architectural oversight.
• Strong technical understanding of architectural design, construction documentation, and building systems.
• Experience with Contract Administration and construction-phase services.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills; confident, professional, and well spoken.
• Public-sector, institutional, government, or similarly complex project experience is an asset.
• Reliability Status clearance or eligibility to obtain.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
