Base pay range

Location : Toronto, ON

About Us : Join a leading multi-billion dollar real estate development, investment, and asset management firm specializing in large-scale, master-planned communities and mixed-use properties across Canada and the US.

Role Overview : The Project Accountant will manage job cost reporting, track project expenses, and ensure compliance with company policies. Key tasks include preparing budget reports, processing invoices, and managing progress billings. The role also involves overseeing financial reporting, handling commissions, and reconciling accounts. Collaboration with project managers and other departments is essential, along with supporting audits and ensuring timely payments.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage job cost reporting and analysis, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain job costing records, including contracts, POs, and change orders.
  • Investigate variances, prepare budget vs. actual reports, and assist with monthly CF forecasts.
  • Implement project budgets in software and provide details to the budget controller.
  • Review and process invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals.
  • Coordinate with project managers and suppliers to ensure timely payments.
  • Manage progress billings, holdbacks, and back charges, ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare financial reports, including bank draws and trust reconciliations.
  • Liaise with the finance team for accurate project cost tracking and compliance.
  • Support the marketing department with commission payments and reporting.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting tasks.
  • Collaborate with auditors and other departments for information sharing and reporting.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Accountant in a similar role with developers, construction managers, or contractors.
  • Bachelor of in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, capable of handling both numerical data and conceptual information.

Location of Employment : The Project Accountant will work from the office in Toronto, ON.

Compensation : CA$70K DOE
