You’ll work closely with preconstruction, operations, trade partners, consultants, and clients to evaluate opportunities, manage risk, strengthen bid strategy, and position LAURIN for successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed, accurate estimates in line with company standards, including quantity takeoffs, self-perform work, and selected subcontractor scopes.

  • Determine general expenses and contribute to decisions on fees and margins.
  • Prepare summaries of key issues and actively participate in estimate review meetings.
  • Lead or participate in bid closings, ensuring all submissions are accurate, timely, and competitive.
  • Support post-tender activities, including clarifications, submissions, and negotiations.
  • Identify new project leads through relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Leverage deep understanding of the Ottawa construction market to secure strategic opportunities.
Qualifications
  • +5 years of hands‑on estimating experience, ideally in ICI construction with exposure to various project delivery methods.
  • Experience with civil or infrastructure projects considered a strong asset.
  • Previous Secret level security clearance is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, tendering processes, and contract negotiation.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as PlanSwift or On‑Screen Takeoff, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Collaborative team player with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure in fast‑paced environments.
Education & Professional Credentials
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience.
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Gold Seal, LEED, or another relevant construction or estimating designation is considered an asset.
