Canadian Banking Technology at Scotiabank supports the full spectrum of technology needs for the bank's Canadian operations, covering various banking products and services. The team works with both traditional and emerging technologies to deliver innovative solutions for business applications and platforms.

The Mainframe COBOL Developer, reporting to the Senior Manager of Development, will lead development projects and support applications for the Canadian business line, collaborating with multiple teams to meet regulatory and compliance platform requirements. Candidates should be proactive, creative, eager to learn, and thrive on challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as an expert resource for problem analysis and solution implementation.
• Support applications, evaluate problems, and implement solutions following architectural guidelines.
• Promote a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
• Interact with business clients and external vendors to resolve system issues.
• Provide analysis and coding support for host applications and infrastructure.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior developers and support system enhancements.
• Participate in on-call support for production issues.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience in mainframe development (Assembler, Cobol, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, etc.).
• Experience with utilities and productivity tools is an asset.
• Knowledge of SDLC and agile methodologies.
• Understanding of file transfer protocols and web services.
• Strong knowledge of DB2, z/OS Debugger, JCL, and COBOL.
• Experience with DevOps and web/cloud technologies is an asset.
• Support experience on UNIX RHEL 8.x preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
