Job summary

The CDA Institute is seeking a dynamic Programme Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a collaborative research network in Ottawa, with hybrid or in-person work options at 701 – 350 Sparks Street, Ottawa, ON.

You will engage with industry, academia, civil society, and government, delivering high-impact events and coordinating reporting to advance the network’s objectives.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (completed or in progress) in political science, international relations, defence studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience managing programmes, projects, research networks, or grants with financial tracking.
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement across government, academia, industry, and civil society.
  • Experience organizing conferences, workshops, and high-level events.
  • Experience securing grant funding and reporting for government-funded projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration and coordination of a research programme on Canadian defence.
  • Coordinate meetings and engagement with network directors and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with funding entities and stakeholders.
  • Manage financial tracking and project reporting requirements.
  • Support the growth and development of the programme.
  • Manage the programme’s website.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness and delivery of the program.
  • Assist with event planning and organization.

The Opportunity

The CDA Institute is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Programme Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a collaborative research network. This role sits at the intersection of the CDA Institute, partner organizations, key stakeholders, and the defence team at the Department of National Defence.

The successful candidate will be positioned at the centre of Canada’s defence community, engaging with industry, academia, civil society, and government.

They will play a hands‑on role in coordinating activities, strategizing and reporting on the programme, supporting stakeholder engagement, and delivering high‑profile events that contribute to the network’s overall success.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead the administration and coordination of a research programme on Canadian defence;
  • Coordinate meetings and engagement with network directors and stakeholders;
  • Liaise with funding entities and stakeholders;
  • Manage financial tracking and project reporting requirements;
  • Support the growth and development of the programme;
  • Manage the programme’s website;
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness and delivery of the program; and
  • Assist with event planning and organization.
Qualifications
Education:

Experience:
  • Proven experience managing programmes, projects, research networks, or grants, including financial tracking and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement across government, academia, industry, and civil society.
  • Experience organizing conferences, workshops, and high‑level events.
  • Experience leading multiple priorities independently and delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure grant funding and manage reporting requirements for government‑funded projects.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear reports and publications.

  • Proficiency in French and English essential.
