Job summary

BGC Okanagan is seeking part-time Program Leaders for the Hudson Road Club in West Kelowna, BC to support our School Age Childcare program. Two positions are available and prior childcare experience is valued.

Responsibilities include planning activities, supervising youth, transporting when needed, and ensuring safety and wellbeing. Competitive benefits, development opportunities, and paid leave are offered.

Qualifications

• Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.
• One (1) year recent related experience
• First Aid certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain
• Class 5 Driver’s Licence (Class 4 willingness)
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and participate in quality and diverse recreational, social, and/or educational programming.
• Orient new families and members to the program and club.
• Provide direct supervision of members and ensure health, safety, and wellness.
• Mentor, guide and lead Activity Leaders within the program.
• Build relationships with children, youth and families and maintain open communication with parents/caregivers.
• Use Club vans to pick up members from school and transport to sites if required.
• Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for members.
• Provide group and/or individual behaviour management and support.
• Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures and safety standards are met.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.
• One (1) year recent related experience
• First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain
• Class 5 Driver’s Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per licensing requirements
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Hours:

Monday to Friday; 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 35 hours per week in summer.

Rate of Pay:

$21.02 per hour
