Job summary

BGC Okanagan in Vernon, BC is hiring a part-time Program Area Leader to plan and oversee youth activities after school hours. You will work 20 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 2:15pm–6:15pm, with extended hours on school breaks, earning $19.82 per hour.

Qualifications

  • A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
  • Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
  • Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
