Job summary

The Village of Riverside Glen has an exciting opportunity for a PAL Coordinator in Long Term Care, posted by Schlegel Villages. This on-site role supports resident-centered active living and cognitive/physical exercise programs.

You will partner with physiotherapists and occupational therapists, lead Kinesiology student placements and volunteers, and deliver education sessions on lift and transfer techniques and body mechanics, with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on psychomotor behaviour and exercise rehabilitation.
  • Experience in designing cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents.
  • Familiar with resident transfer assessments and interprofessional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents, both individuals and in groups.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure resident goals are met.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of Kinesiology Co-Op placements, students and volunteers who assist with the PAL program.
  • Facilitate education sessions such as lift & transfer, body mechanics, active living.
  • Support resident-centered social culture and advocate for resident participation in decisions about their care.

The Village of Riverside Glen has an exciting opportunity for a PAL Coordinatorto join their team.

The expected hiring range for this position is $ 44,000 to $ 48,000 for non-registered and $ 48,000 to $ 52,000 for Registered PAL Coordinator . This role falls within a broader internal salary band, with growth opportunities based on demonstrated performance.

To be successful as our new PAL Coordinator, you will:
  • Have a Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on psychomotor behaviour and exercise rehabilitation
  • Design and implement innovative cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents, both individuals and in groups
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure resident goals are met
  • Be familiar with completing resident transfer assessments
  • Collaborate with external partners in order to provide exceptional service to our residents
  • Provide leadership and supervision of Kinesiology Co-Op placements, Students and Volunteers who assist with the PAL program
  • Facilitate education sessions such as lift & transfer, body mechanics, active living
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
  • Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the role
It would be an asset if our new PAL Coordinator has:
  • Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices a Experience and/or desire to provide educational sessions/ seminars
  • Demonstratedexperience working with seniors and/or persons with cognitive or physical impairments
  • Experience working in the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g.. School placement)
