Mandate
The Program Coordinators work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Manager of Teacher Education, Department Chair, Administrative Officer, and Education Advising to effectively implement, maintain, and monitor all aspects of the teacher education programs.
The Program Coordinators liaise with community organizations, school administrators, mentor teachers, field advisors, and other partners to develop and maintain a strong network of field partners. Reporting to the Manager, Teacher Education, they support students and instructors through seminars, meetings, resource development, and program success initiatives.
Objectives
- Partner/field Communication: Develop and maintain networks with internal and external partners; prepare reports and information for various audiences.
- Documentation and Organization: Ensure accurate, accessible, and timely documentation of student records related to program and practicum progression.
- Practicum Placements: Collaborate with mentors and school administrators to ensure appropriate practicum placements that meet certification requirements.
- Student Support: Track student admissions and progress, support program success, coordinate practicum planning, develop relevant materials, and communicate with instructors.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the implementation of the Teacher Education Program's strategic goals, align with UVic's broader strategic plans, and participate in local and provincial working groups; support faculty and department initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, and at least three (3) years of administrative and/or teaching experience, preferably in the K-12 school system, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assets and Preferences
- A master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Experience working with school administration, teachers, and community agencies.
- Knowledge of BC K-12 curriculum and assessment practices.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and Student Management Systems such as BANNER and/or FAST.
