About Us

The Cook Street Village Activity Centre is a vibrant nonprofit committed to enhancing the well-being of older adults and the wider community through programs, events, volunteerism, and connection. We’re looking for an energetic and organized Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator to help us grow and serve our members with creativity and heart.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role develops and delivers programs, workshops, events, and volunteer opportunities at the Centre. It also includes marketing and community outreach responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Programming

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs, courses, and special events.
  • Coordinate seasonal decorating and annual initiatives (e.g., Income Tax Clinic).
  • Liaise with instructors and contractors; enter registrations and manage invoices.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, committees, and members to enhance engagement.
  • Provide updates to administrative staff and resolve scheduling or conflict issues.
  • Design room setup and logistics for activities and rentals.

Marketing & Communications

  • Produce and distribute monthly and seasonal communications (Happenings, Program Guide).
  • Create flyers, posters, and digital content; manage updates to online event calendar and display board.
  • Work with the admin team on social media and community promotion.
  • Participate in Membership & Marketing Committee.

Other Duties

  • Support special events, attend staff meetings and committee work.
  • Provide support at front desk or kitchen as needed.
  • Open/close the facility, assist in emergency responses and complete incident reports.
  • Set up and move furniture/equipment; support building operations as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot tech and manage digital promotional tools.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or training.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or in the nonprofit sector (preferred).
  • Certifications Required:
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • First Aid & CPR-C with AED
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector)
