The Program Coordinator (PC) plans and coordinates the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of two academic programs: the Student Academic Success Pathway Program (SSPP) and the Student Summer Research Program (SSRP). The PC manages all aspects of these programs, including assisting program directors with oversight, enhancing student support services to promote academic achievement and well-being, and implementing strategies for academic intervention, mentoring, and student success initiatives. The PC tracks student progress and coordinates collaboration between faculty and staff.

Key responsibilities include coordinating academic advising, remediation programs, supplemental initiatives, and using testing data to monitor student progress and prepare reports. The PC works with SSRP directors to coordinate collaborations with research institutions, ensuring deadlines and program requirements are met.

The candidate must have a proven record of successful teamwork, excellent communication skills, and strong organizational abilities.

Daily Operations
  1. Perform administrative duties related to program operations, including semester schedules, archives, evaluations, and other tasks assigned by the Program Director.
  2. Assist in preparing funding proposals, research grants, and special projects.
  3. Help organize interactive study sessions for students in basic medical science courses.
  4. Monitor and report on student progress using data from review sessions and assessments.
  5. Schedule tutoring sessions with faculty for students needing extra help.
  6. Collect and evaluate student progress data, providing feedback for improvement.
  7. Create and distribute learning resources like practice questions and study guides.
  8. Administer and analyze quizzes, surveys, and evaluations to assess learning outcomes.
  9. Assist SSRP co-directors in managing research activities and deadlines.
  10. Coordinate with research partners to meet program requirements.
  11. Organize student participation in the Spring Annual Research Day.
  12. Develop promotional materials about Meharry SSRP.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of academic processes
  • Extensive administrative experience
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including working with students and faculty
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Blackboard preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage resources effectively
  • Skill in analyzing statistical data and generating reports
  • Advanced writing and editing skills
Education and Experience

A Master’s degree in education or a bachelor’s degree with over three years of relevant experience is required. Additional training in program evaluation and instructional delivery is a plus.
