Program Consultant

Primary Purpose: As a program consultant, the successful applicant will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and coordinating continuing education opportunities for pharmacy and other health care professionals.

Nature of Work: USask CPE, operating out of the University of Saskatchewan's College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, is dedicated to developing, implementing, supporting, and evaluating continuing education and professional development programs for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals. We collaborate with health organizations and partners across Canada to create and distribute high-quality continuing education content.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful applicant will function with a high level of independence, decision-making, and accountability. This position requires short, medium, and long-term planning. Work with USask CPE requires the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment while balancing competing deadlines and multi-tasking. Some travel may be required (meetings, conferences), as is attendance at occasional evening and weekend events.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Create written content, learning activities, courses, and presentations on various topics for pharmacy professionals, while fostering collaboration and encouraging growth
  • Ensure existing courses meet our standards of excellence, engagement, and innovation.
  • Review and edit content developed by the USask CPE team, prioritizing clear and respectful communication, and careful attention to detail.
  • Incorporate feedback from evaluations into current and future USask CPE programs and offerings, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and personal growth.
  • Ensure that learning content and activities meet accreditation standards, emphasizing professionalism and quality.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with the pharmacy and broader healthcare community to support educational program creation.
  • Guide and mentor pharmacy interns during experiential learning placements with USask CPE, fostering an environment of growth and learning.
  • Exhibit innovative and creative thinking when determining plans of action and strategies for educational content.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the rapidly changing needs and scope of practice of pharmacy professionals.

Qualifications

Education: A first professional degree in Pharmacy (e.g., Bachelor’s degree or PharmD)
Licenses:The successful applicant must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice pharmacy in SaskatchewanExperience: At least 3 years of pharmacy practice experience. Preference will be given to applicants with current pharmacy experience.
