Job summary

The Town of Milton is seeking a part-time Program Assistant for the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton and Sherwood Community Centre. The role focuses on delivering safe, engaging recreation programs for children and youth, assisting with lesson plans, setup, and volunteer supervision.

You will help maintain a welcoming atmosphere, support staff and participants, and ensure safety and compliance with health guidelines. This position offers benefits and an OMERS pension option.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10 education required.
  • First Aid and CPR C certification preferred.
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development required.

Responsibilities

  • Program implementation with a focus on quality customer experiences.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of lesson plans to meet program needs.
  • Assist in providing a safe and well-supervised learning environment.
  • Assist with a welcoming atmosphere for children to participate and excel.
  • Prepare materials and space per lesson plan; set-up and take down equipment.
  • Provide guidance and oversee volunteers; maintain professional staff relations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean facility and report any issues to supervisor.

We host a variety of shows and events, gallery exhibitions and art programs and workshops for individuals of all ages. Reporting to the Coordinator, Cultural Services , this part-time position assists with the delivery of safe, fun and inclusive recreation programs for a specific age group.# # **Major Job Responsibilities****Major Job Responsibilities*** Program implementation with a focus on quality customer experiences* Assist with the preparation and delivery of lesson plans to meet the needs of the program level* Assist in providing a safe and well-supervised learning environment* Assist with the provision of a welcoming and positive atmosphere for children to actively participate and excel* Prepare materials and program space as per lesson plan* Set-up and take down of required equipment* Provide guidance and oversight of volunteers* Establish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants* Maintain a safe and clean facility including proper usage and use of equipment* Proactively communicate program needs to facility operations staff and communicate any facility or equipment deficiencies to supervisor* Evaluate situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks.
