Job summary

Town of Milton’s FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton seeks an enthusiastic part-time Recreation Assistant to support art and culture programs for children. You will assist with lesson plans, supervise activities, and help maintain a welcoming, safe environment while coordinating with staff and volunteers in a vibrant arts setting.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Cultural Services, you will help deliver inclusive recreation programs, manage attendance, and ensure smooth daily operations within the

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10 education.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • Basic knowledge of art, design and/or craft.
  • Experience with children of various ages preferred.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Responsibilities

  • Program implementation with a focus on quality customer experiences.
  • Assist with lesson plans and program delivery.
  • Maintain safe, clean and supervised learning environments.
  • Support volunteers and staff with program operations.
  • Prepare materials and space per lesson plan; set up and take down equipment.
  • Ensure timely communication with staff and participants and report incidents.

We host a variety of shows and events, gallery exhibitions and art programs and workshops for individuals of all ages. Reporting to the Coordinator, Cultural Services , this part-time position assists with the delivery of safe, fun and inclusive recreation programs for a specific age group.Major Job ResponsibilitiesMajor Job ResponsibilitiesProgram implementation with a focus on quality customer experiencesAssist with the preparation and delivery of lesson plans to meet the needs of the program levelAssist in providing a safe and well-supervised learning environmentAssist with the provision of a welcoming and positive atmosphere for children to actively participate and excelPrepare materials and program space as per lesson planSet-up and take down of required equipmentProvide guidance and oversight of volunteersEstablish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participantsMaintain a safe and clean facility including proper usage and use of equipmentProactively communicate program needs to facility operations staff and communicate any facility or equipment deficiencies to supervisorEvaluate situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks.
