Activation Aide

Activity Aide - Full-time

Home: Southbridge Kemptville Long Term Care Home

Location: Kemptville, Ontario

Position: Activity Aide – Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: Eves, 11am-7pm, 10 shifts bi weekly

Southbridge is seeking a caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Activity Aide to serve our residents by organizing and facilitating engaging activities to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. Your role will be to bring joy and fun to our residents daily, making a positive impact on their lives. The Activity Aide reports to the Activity Director.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and supervisor instructions.
2. Set up and clean activity areas, transport residents, and monitor their behavior and condition during activities. Report significant changes to staff.
3. Maintain accurate program and resident records and communicate participation to registered staff.
4. Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications

1. Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related field; or enrollment in such a program, to be completed within 3 years of hire.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent documentation skills.
3. Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for both well and cognitively impaired individuals.
4. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
5. Creativity in developing new ideas, programs, and volunteer initiatives.
6. Experience working with the geriatric population, especially those with cognitive impairments.
