Job summary

Cambrian College invites applications for part-time teaching opportunities in the Acupuncture program for this academic year. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Integrative Health and Wellness, the incumbent will deliver courses using adult education principles and diverse delivery methods.

The successful candidate will have an Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture, active registration with CTMA, at least five years of professional experience, and post-secondary teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture or equivalent.
• Active registration in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (R.TCMP or R.A.).
• Minimum of five (5) years current professional experience.
• Post-secondary teaching experience an asset.
• Commitment to lifelong learning in the field.
• Ability to teach in-person, remotely or hybrid delivery.
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
• Advanced computer literacy and willingness to use learning tools such as Canvas.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

This posting is in anticipation of current and future part‑time teaching opportunities this academic year. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Integrative Health and Wellness, the incumbent facilitates the delivery of the Acupuncture program. The incumbent will incorporate a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies that are designed to meet the needs of learners.

• Teaches the course using best practices and adult education principles
• Builds on developments syllabus and course material, based on the course outline and the existing teaching materials, which becomes part of the course teaching material used by future faculty
• Ensures that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
• Creates an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
• Develops and implements course learning outcomes and alternative delivery strategies, ensuring that they support and reflect program goals
• Assures that students are aware of all relevant learning outcomes, learning strategies and assessment techniques
• Assesses student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback
• Develops multi‑media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporates appropriate educational technologies into the learning process
• Liaises effectively with internal and external partners to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment
• Uses the learning management system to support learner outcomes
