Job summary

Vecima Networks Inc. is seeking a Production Technician to diagnose and repair manufacturing assemblies, perform line maintenance, and support test equipment.

The role requires electronics training and hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical, hardware, software, and infrastructure failures. You'll work with documented procedures, use logging software, and help maintain line efficiency while following safety protocols and ESD/PPE guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Electronics Technician/Technologist from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Bachelor degree in Electronics Technology preferred.
  • 3–5 years of repair or design technician experience in a similar role.
  • Experience repairing multiple product types is preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing test and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair product failures using applicable tools and documentation to meet targets.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on line equipment and test fixtures.
  • Document failure patterns and report to supervisor for investigation and mitigation.
  • Use error logging/tracking software and report problems with symptom details.
  • Submit material requisition tickets when parts are not readily available.
  • Basic soldering and mechanical assembly as required.
  • Understand data collection for unit tests and yields to improve fault location.
  • Support Manufacturing Operators with line or test jig issues.
  • Daily use of ESD protection and PPE per policy.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling of product line layouts.

Position Summary

The Production Technician performs repair of manufacturing product assemblies and systems by diagnosing mechanical, hardware, software and infrastructure related failures using established tools, equipment and existing support/troubleshooting documentation. They will also perform maintenance on line equipment and test fixtures as they have been prescribed as part of a preventative maintenance program.

Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)
  • Troubleshoot and repair product failures using applicable tools, equipmentand support documentation to ensure your team meets its daily, weekly andquarterly volume and quality targets
  • Perform prescribed work station and equipment preventative maintenance procedures
  • Identify product failure patterns and record pertinent information such asquantity of units and attempted non-successful troubleshooting actions andreport this information to your supervisor for further investigation andmitigation/resolution
  • Utilize all error logging/tracking software within manufacturing to helpreport and trend on product and process the ticket services, Material Desk(MD), IT Service Desk correctly to report problems and issues by includingall symptom information and following posted work instructions
  • Submit material requisition tickets through the material desk as parts areneeded which are not immediately available to you on the line
  • Basic soldering and mechanical assembly as required to process productrepairs
  • General comprehension of how and why data is collected for unit test resultsand yields in order to better allocate your technical skill and knowledge onthe right failure at the right time
  • Support Manufacturing Operators with work station or test jig issues as theyimpact overall line goals/unit quality specifications
  • Regular use of all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE), this includes daily testing as required by policy
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling of product line layouts
Position Requirements
  • Diploma or Certificate indicating completion of an Electronics Technicianand/or Technologist course from a Canadian Recognized Post-SecondaryInstitution or equivalent
  • Bachelor degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent is preferred
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a repair or designtechnician in a similar capacity
  • 2-5 years’ experience repairing multiple product types is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the theory and operation of manufacturing test anddiagnostic tools which can be used to develop or improve upon existing tools
  • Intimate knowledge of how Vecima Products work at a circuit, software andcomponent level
  • Knowledge of design methodologies for both product and test development
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Effective training ability and a desire to learn
  • Must be able to work in a team
  • Knowledgeable of the theory and operation of manufacturing test anddiagnostic tools
  • Technically & mechanically inclined and able to interpret schematic diagrams& blueprints
  • Technical & mechanical troubleshooting skills
