Job summary

Dow, located in Ontario, is seeking a Production Technician to safely operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment within a shift team. You will optimize production, respond to challenges, and support training and maintenance while upholding a strong safety culture and operational excellence.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime as needed, and readiness to respond to emergencies. Forklift experience/license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willing and able to work a 12 hour rotating shift.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed.
  • Willing and able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Canada work authorization is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Operating Discipline policies, procedures, and standards to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operate, inspect, and monitor process equipment, control systems, and key performance metrics to maintain optimal plant performance.
  • Perform scheduled operational activities and respond to unplanned events to support continuous operations.
  • Collaborate across shift teams to balance workload, resolve issues, and ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Conduct effective shift handovers to ensure clear communication and operational continuity.
  • Maintain qualifications and complete required training while addressing skill gaps.
  • Mentor and train operations personnel on process operations and safety.
  • Support emergency response activities and participate in incident investigations as needed.
  • Use plant performance metrics to identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance including minor repairs and preventive maintenance.

About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Production Technician in St. Clair River, Ontario. In this role, you will safely operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment to support reliable and efficient manufacturing operations. Working as part of a shift team, you will use your technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to optimize production, respond to operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement. You will also support training, maintenance, and emergency response activities while contributing to a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain qualifications and complete required training while proactively addressing skill and knowledge gaps.
  • Mentor and train operations personnel on process operations, troubleshooting, and operating discipline practices.
  • Support emergency response activities and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as needed.
  • Use plant performance metrics and process knowledge to identify, communicate, and implement operational improvement opportunities.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance activities, including minor repairs and preventive maintenance, in accordance with established procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willing and able to work a 12 hour rotating shift.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed.
  • Willing and able to respond to emergency situations.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in the Canada.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical diploma.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing role.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift.
  • Forklift operator license.
Physical Requirements

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 25 kg's from the ground level on a continuous basis.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting Stand 50% of the time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, ear plugs, and goggles.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.

This position does not offer relocation assistance. Operator Progression is managed at the site level.
