Job summary

Shell Canada is seeking a Process Operator to join the Scotford Upgrader team in Alberta. You will help operate a complex site including an upgrader, refinery, and CCS facility, ensuring safe, compliant daily operations and contributing to production targets.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience, a 3rd Class Steam Ticket, and a strong mechanical aptitude. Flexible hours, overtime, and outdoor work in various weather conditions are expected. Safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• Must possess a high school diploma
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must have a minimum of a 3rd Class Steam Ticket, a 4th Class considered with progress
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience is preferred
• Willing to work overtime shifts, nights, weekends, holidays and outdoors in inclement weather

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily plant operations are carried out safely and in full compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Carry out HSSE and Process Safety checks to assess equipment status
• Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process issues to maintain reliable performance
• Conduct sampling and testing activities as required by the unit
• Execute shift objectives to support production and budgets
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to support maintenance activities
• Create clear work orders to support maintenance execution
• Perform housekeeping to maintain a safe working environment
• Identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement
