Job summary

Shell Canada is seeking a Process Operator for the Scotford Upgrader near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. You will contribute to safe and efficient daily operations, perform rounds, tests, and troubleshooting, and support maintenance and process improvements.

This role requires a 3rd Class Steam Ticket, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. You may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays, and to participate in emergency response training.

Qualifications

• Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• High school diploma is required.
• 3rd Class Steam Ticket is required; 4th Class considered with progress toward 3rd Class.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 20 kg safely and work in PPE; respiratory/SCBA readiness.
• Willing to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as per schedule.
• Emergency response training (Fire Fighting) encouraged.
• Safety policies, procedures, and safe-work standards must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily plant operations are conducted safely and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Carry out routine plant rounds and HSSE checks to assess equipment status.
• Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process issues for reliable performance.
• Conduct sampling and testing as required by the unit.
• Execute shift objectives to support production and budget targets.
• Issue permits in accordance with standards and safe-work requirements.
• Collaborate with Maintenance/Engineering to support maintenance activities.
• Perform housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
