Job summary

Agropur Cooperative in Don Mills (Toronto area) is seeking a Production Supervisor for the weekend day shift to lead the production team and ensure safety, quality, and on-time output.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage staffing for weekend coverage, and uphold HACCP/SQF standards while engaging with cross-functional teams and unionized staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher education in engineering or science and 7–10 years as a supervisor in a unionized production environment.
• Experience in food industry with HACCP/SQF familiarity.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and teamwork abilities.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and program implementation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and lead safety culture improvements.
• Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the production team.
• Foster positive employee relations and teamwork across shifts.
• Maintain product quality and food safety standards (HACCP/SQF).
• Support HACCP team and audits for third-party/customer requirements.
• Monitor equipment, production efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Specific focus is on sanitation and quality results (HACCP and SQF), health and safety, good manufacturing practices and productivity. The incumbent participates to maintain the requirements on food safety and quality. Other areas of focus are employee relations, production scheduling including staffing for open shifts, cost reductions, liaising with our chemical supplier and customer satisfaction.Working hours are Friday 10 AM to 6 PM (8 hours), Saturday and Sunday 6 AM to 6 PM (12 hours), Monday 10 AM to 6 PM (8 hours).**A workplace where collaboration is encouraged and valued:*** Recognition of years of service in calculating vacation time.* Flexible group insurance plan, including telemedicine service.* Employee assistance program.* Opportunity to invest in you (Career Path, etc.).* Pension plan including employer contributions.* Salary range 004: $80,200 to $100,300 (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)**How you will contribute to collective success:**More specifically, the Don Mills Production Supervisor’s responsibilities will include:* Ensure compliance of health and safety regulations, and ability to implement programs to improve safety culture.* Provide leadership, direction and coaching to the production team;* Promote and enhance a positive employee relation atmosphere including efforts to continuously improve teamwork and establish high levels of employee involvement.* Ensures consistent application of best practices towards product evaluation, food safety and quality to support and maintain Agropur’s quality standards;* Supports the operation of the HACCP team to ensure that the facility and documentation is suitable for third party / customer audits to maintain the SQF/ HACCP status at the plant;* Monitor and ensure efficiency of plant equipment and resources and ensure production requirements are met on time;* Track efficiencies & productivity, measure results and communicate performance.**The type of team player who fits with the team:*** College Diploma or University Degree in an Engineering or science field.* 7-10 years’ experience as a supervisor with direct involvement in a unionized production facility.* Experience in food industry.* Computer literacy, ideally with MS Office (Word and Excel).* Knowledge of quality assurance systems (HACCP and SQF), an asset.**A role for those who know performance is built together.**People are at the heart of everything we do.
