TIGER Drylac Canada, Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor in Guelph, ON to lead shift operations and ensure safe, efficient production. You will partner with the Process Engineering and Maintenance teams to keep production on track and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and a focus on safety and quality. ISO compliance and Lean practices are important, with a monthly rotation of shifts and a 3-shift model.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

Reports To: Production Manager

Model: 3 shift model. Monday to Friday.

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production shift operations and ensuring safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing activities. This role provides leadership to production employees and supervisors/team leads while supporting continuous improvement, quality, safety, employee development, and operational performance.

The Production Supervisor works closely with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Health & Safety, and other departments to ensure smooth production operations and effective shift-to-shift communication.

Key Responsibilities
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing initiatives in collaboration with Lean Manufacturing consultants and internal teams.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Lean initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote and reinforce Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the production team.
  • Make recommendations to improve processes, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Health & Safety
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees properly use required PPE and equipment.
  • Conduct Health & Safety audits and follow up on identified opportunities.
  • Support and participate in accident investigations.
  • Work with Health & Safety consultants and internal teams as required.
  • Promote and reinforce 7S practices within the production environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of employees and others in the workplace.
Production Operations
  • Supervise and coordinate daily production shift activities.
  • Work closely with the Process Engineer to coordinate production operations and resolve process-related issues.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager regarding TPM and maintenance issues.
  • Support the Factory Manager in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating production operations.
  • Assess staffing, equipment, technology, and operational requirements to support production needs.
  • Ensure effective communication and a smooth transition between shifts.
Equipment & Production Processes
  • Support and implement changes to machinery, equipment, production systems, and methods of work.
  • Monitor the production and usage of PPL-Bag House Powder.
  • Ensure Mix Sheets are prepared in advance of production.
  • Determine the appropriate cleaning requirements for machinery and oversee the cleaning process from beginning to end.
  • Support troubleshooting and ensure production equipment and processes operate effectively.
Quality, Inspection & Testing
  • Oversee the panel sampling process.
  • Assist with the verification and correction of product runs, including Drylac and/or Metallic products.
  • Use quality testing equipment to verify product quality and make corrections as required.
  • Work with relevant teams to identify and address quality issues.
People Leadership & Employee Development
  • Coordinate production employee training with the Production Training Manager.
  • Participate in interviews and selection of new production employees.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees.
  • Provide ongoing learning and development opportunities for production employees and supervisors/team leads.
  • Coach and mentor production employees and supervisors/team leads.
  • Manage and provide feedback on employee performance.
  • Recognize employee contributions and support employee engagement.
  • Provide timely and effective communication to the production team.
  • Address employee relations matters and implement Human Resources requirements.
  • Support and drive the Full Responsibility and Advice Process throughout the organization.
Administration & Reporting
  • Complete all required production documentation and paperwork.
  • Collect and review closing order information.
  • Maintain accurate and timely production records and information.
Other Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively and constructively with co-workers, peers, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Follow and support TIGER's Liberating Organism (LO) strategies and principles.
  • Follow the requirements of the ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems.
  • Support and promote TIGER's Great Place to Work environment in alignment with TIGER's behavioral competencies and Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Work hours may vary depending on production requirements and shifts.
  • Flexibility is required to oversee and support multiple shifts.
  • Work is performed primarily in a production/factory environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to approximately 10 hours.
  • Exposure to dust, powder coating materials, and noise may occur.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE, including safety footwear, safety goggles, hearing protection, and face protection/masks as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Post-secondary training in Lean Management, manufacturing, production, or a related field is an asset.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing and production.
  • Powder coating experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of production processes.
  • Experience operating extruders, mills, and mixing equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with computer-controlled machinery is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance, safety, and quality principles is an asset.
  • Forklift operation experience is an asset.
