Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions seeks an experienced Production Supervisor to lead the afternoon shift in Brantford, Ontario. You will own shift performance, ensuring safety, quality and productivity targets are met while coaching a growing team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day production activities and employees on the afternoon shift.
• Own shift performance across safety, quality, productivity, staffing and output.
• Set clear expectations and communicate daily priorities.
• Coach and develop the shift team with hands-on leadership.
• Assist recruitment, onboarding and training as the shift grows.
• Monitor production flow and address labour, equipment, material or quality issues.
• Ensure health and safety policies and safe work practices are followed.
• Coordinate with day shift leadership for smooth handoffs.
• Collaborate with materials, maintenance, scheduling, shipping and operations to resolve challenges.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, and employee performance.
• Manage employee performance and attendance and escalate when required.
• Maintain production documentation and report key results to management.
• Help establish consistent processes as the afternoon shift expands.

Job Summary

Our client, an established manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead its afternoon shift. This individual will take ownership of shift performance, providing hands‑on leadership while ensuring production targets, safety standards and quality expectations are consistently achieved. With the organization continuing to develop its afternoon operations, this person will play an important role in building a productive, accountable and engaged shift team. The successful candidate will be comfortable making decisions independently while maintaining strong communication with the broader operations leadership team.

The Role

• Lead all day‑to‑day production activities and employees assigned to the afternoon shift.
• Take ownership of shift performance across safety, quality, productivity, staffing and output.
• Set clear expectations, assign work and ensure employees understand daily production priorities.
• Build an engaged and accountable team through regular coaching, feedback and hands‑on leadership.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding and training of new production employees as the shift develops.
• Monitor production flow and respond quickly to labour, equipment, material or quality issues.
• Ensure established health and safety policies, procedures and safe work practices are consistently followed.
• Coordinate with day‑shift leadership to ensure effective handoffs and continuity between shifts.
• Work closely with materials, maintenance, scheduling, shipping and operations leadership to resolve production challenges.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, quality and employee performance.
• Address employee performance, attendance and workplace issues appropriately and escalat when required.
• Maintain accurate production and shift documentation and communicate key results and issues to management.
• Help establish consistent processes and operating disciplines as the afternoon shift continues to grow.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous production supervisory or leadership experience within manufacturing or a related industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead a production shift and make sound operational decisions.
• Strong people‑management skills with experience coaching, developing and holding employees accountable.
• Hands‑on and visible leadership style with the ability to build credibility on the production floor.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, productivity and production flow.
• Comfortable helping build and develop a growing shift and establishing expectations with new employees.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills, particularly when senior leadership may not be immediately available.
• Able to manage competing priorities and remain composed in a fast‑moving production environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain effective handoffs between shifts.
• Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing or process improvement is an asset.
• Familiarity with production reporting and manufacturing systems is preferred.
• Experience within building materials, industrial products, packaging or a related manufacturing environment would be an asset.
• Post‑secondary education in operations, manufacturing, business or a related discipline is an asset; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
