Job summary

MiTek Canada Head Office / Plant in Bradford, Ontario, is seeking a Production Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) to direct daily operations in a lean manufacturing environment. The role requires strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to lead the team and meet production targets.

You will work with the Day Shift Supervisor and ensure materials flow, safety compliance, and SOP adherence while driving continuous improvement and efficiency on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a leadership role responsible for 4+ personnel in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and lean manufacturing knowledge.
  • Able to use computer and Microsoft Office applications.

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing daily operations within the department and must have experience in a production environment. This role requires strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with a comprehensive understanding of all production support functions. A solid knowledge of manufacturing principles, especially lean manufacturing, is essential.

What You Will Do
  • Lead a department in the execution of daily production tasks, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Day Shift Production Supervisor to assign and manage the daily required targets and goals.
  • Ensure routed production materials are issued or received on the production floor and located accurately by the team in a timely manner.
  • Address safety concerns with team members immediately to prevent injuries and production hazards, and promptly follow up as needed.
  • Ensure all team members wear protective gear during production and monitor compliance with safety instructions throughout the team.
  • Execute safety walks and weekly safety audits.
  • Ensure team members are performing inspections correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Actively engage in training and on‑job development opportunities to advance competency in the MiTek Leadership Blueprint.
  • Ensure ERP/MRP production transactions are done correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Identify areas for improvement and lead efforts to drive efficiencies, fostering team growth at the site.
  • Ensure timely identification and resolution of issues impacting production.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Work closely with other plant departments to address and resolve issues.
  • Work with local manufacturing engineering group to implement efficient and effective standard operating procedures (SOPs) that production employees are trained to.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines and operational demands.
  • Perform safety and incident reporting.
  • Responsible for shutdown and securing of plant at end of shift.
Qualifications
  • High School/GED required.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role responsible for 4 or more personnel in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to use computer and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience in MRP software.
  • Experience with RF scanners.
  • Forklift experience.
Soft Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Showcase good leadership/motivation skills to lead different people with different abilities and character traits.
  • Swift learner and an excellent coach to train teammates.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills to handle challenges in the production department.
  • Demonstrate strong time‑management skills and take a proactive approach.
  • Conflict resolution skills would be an asset.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, walk upstairs and crouch. Communicate through speaking and hearing.
