Summary
Ensures maximum profitability of the producing plant by developing and executing short-term and long-term operating and maintenance plans; establishes standards of performance and enforces compliance with company rules, policies, and procedures. Supports development of a culture of continuous improvement and acts as a mentor to help team members reach the next level of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation and execution of all health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Consult with management to establish production and quality standards, and develop budgets and cost controls.
- Mentor and coach supervisors regularly on achieving safety, HR, quality, and production goals.
- Plan and direct production activities, setting priorities aligned with operational efficiency and cost management.
- Coordinate production with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize resource utilization.
- Analyze reports to identify causes of nonconformity and operational issues, and develop solutions.
- Implement methods and procedures to eliminate problems and enhance product quality.
- Foster a collaborative environment by engaging employees to improve performance, safety, quality, and environmental practices.
- Develop and execute strategies to meet departmental and company goals within budgets and timelines.
- Promote a data-driven culture for informed decision-making.
- Adjust production schedules in response to equipment failures or operational issues.
- Collaborate with engineering for machine modifications to improve production and quality.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff.
- Support succession planning by identifying development needs of team members.
- Manage inventory processes for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead department activities through superintendents to ensure product quality, availability, and efficiency.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety compliance to aim for zero injuries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Certification required.
- 5-7 years supervisory/management experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively across organizational levels, be proactive, and innovate.
- Experience leading change and driving success in manufacturing.
- Empathetic people management skills and a balanced problem-solving approach.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods.
