Production Engineer
Job details

What will be your role?

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Production Engineer will work in collaboration with the Installation Manager and the project team in Vancouver. This role is responsible for documentation modifications and upkeep for installation projects in Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend daily installation progress meetings with the shipyard staff to address and resolve problems.
  2. Work with shipyard engineering, planning, projects and production teams to resolve issues in a solution-oriented way.
  3. Ensure daily communication with shipyard offices and maintain relationships with relevant people within the shipyard.
  4. Perform material management reviews to ensure availability and production readiness.
  5. Work with the Bronswerk Marine installation team to help resolve installation issues quickly.
  6. Provide compliant technical solutions as needed to support the design and installation of HVAC equipment onboard.
  7. Keep track of all modifications performed and inform the project team.
  8. Maintain installation and project progress reports.
  9. Support Startup/System testing of the HVAC systems and work with the Shipyard team to develop solutions.
  10. Conduct configuration control on engineering documents and ensure final updated versions are easily accessible (Share Point).
  11. Create/update technical and production-related documents such as commissioning procedures, operators/maintenance manuals, engineering clarifications, production holdups, etc.
  12. Organize and maintain effective information flow and update the Project Manager on any potential delays.
  13. Be responsible for the quality of all deliverables.
  14. May be called on to recalculate heat loads, pressure drops for ducting and piping systems, equipment capacities, duct sizing depending on modifications needed.
  15. May need to modify all drawings, Bill of Materials for procurement, Technical Specifications Data Sheets, Air Flow diagrams, and other supporting documentation.

Which candidate profile are we looking for?

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  2. Up to 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written (English).
  4. Good organization skills.
  5. Ability to process information quickly.
  6. Solution-oriented thought process.
  7. Ability to multi-task.
  8. Strong AutoCAD skills (3D modelling an asset).
  9. Exposure to HVAC component Design, Refrigeration system (an asset).
  10. Excellent 2D and 3D design skills (AutoCAD/AutoDesk Vault preferred).
  11. Desire to perform field work and on-site tasks.
  12. Proficient in Excel.

Bronswerk Marine has been selected as the Tier-1 supplier of HVAC-R installation services on the OFSV (Offshore Fisheries Science Vessels), OOSV (Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel), and JSS (Join Ship Support) part of Canada’s new National Shipbuilding Program being constructed in Vancouver Shipyard in North Vancouver BC. While the majority of the work will be completed in Vancouver, this position may occasionally be required to work on other projects within the Lower Mainland & the Vancouver Islands. This is a new role, and it reports to the Site Project Manager located in Vancouver.
