Strathcona Resources Ltd. (“Strathcona”) is a Calgary, Alberta based oil and gas production and development company focused on maximizing oil and gas recovery from its low decline, high free cash flow oil and gas resource base. Strathcona's operations, infrastructure and land position are focused in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

We are actively seeking a Production Engineer or Technologist to join our Lloydminster Conventional team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Production, this position will be responsible for production engineering activity for cold heavy oil assets within the team. The role involves collaborating closely with field operations staff to optimize production, create and execute base capital and production budgets, facility and pipeline design and operation, reservoir efficiency, equipment longevity, and operating costs.

Responsibilities:

1. Support Strathcona safety and environmental practices.
2. Manage day to day production operations. Monitor area and individual well performance.
3. Justify and evaluate economics on all routine and non-routine workovers and well interventions. Prepare well servicing programs for all required workovers. Optimize design of artificial lift systems.
4. Work closely with the field operations and well servicing group to manage service rig and rod rig activity.
5. Raise capital AFEs. Responsible for tracking all area base capital performing monthly capital accruals and forecasting on AFEs.
6. Work closely with multidisciplinary asset team including development engineering, geology, reservoir, facilities and drilling to plan and execute area development programs.
7. Work with operations and facility engineering to optimize and debottleneck facilities and pipeline networks.
8. Lead area measurement initiatives. Work with the measurement team, operations, and production accounting to ensure area compliance.
9. Manage area regulatory requirements and obligations pertaining to inactive well compliance (D13), and packer isolation testing.
10. Work with field staff to effectively manage and lower operating costs. Responsible for monthly accruals and adhering to budget for Downhole Maintenance.
11. Provide engineering support to field staff to minimize well downtime and optimize well production.
12. Build and maintain effective relationships with production related service providers and government agencies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or petroleum technology diploma.
2. 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
3. Registered with APEGA.
4. Knowledge of downhole failure mechanisms and methods of mitigating failures.
5. Extensive experience with well servicing and interventions. BOP ticket is an asset.
6. Experience with drilling and completions operations.
7. Strong ability to self-motivate and work with minimum supervision.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Strong team player with good organization, energy, and adaptability.
10. Keen attention to detail, along with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
11. Preferred experience with systems such as GeoScout (or similar), ProdView (or similar production tracking software), WellView (or similar well servicing software), Valnav, and Verdazo.
12. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of advanced analytical tools (Tableau) is beneficial.

Based in the Calgary office with occasional travel to well sites, facilities, and field offices.
