Production Engineer – Suffield Gas Operations
We are looking for a technically strong and self-motivated Production Engineer to join our team supporting shallow gas operations in Suffield, Alberta. The successful candidate will bring 5 plus years of oil and gas experience, with a focus on optimizing legacy gas assets, improving operational efficiency, and executing practical engineering solutions in a mature field environment.
This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving in the field, and delivering tangible results through cost-effective, safe, and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize shallow gas production performance across a large well inventory.
- Implement decline management and well intervention strategies to maximize recoveries.
- Identify and execute low-cost optimization and recompletion opportunities.
- Conduct daily surveillance using SCADA systems, field readings, and production data.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and third-party contractors to troubleshoot issues and maintain uptime.
- Ensure compliance with corporate HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and emissions targets.
- Lead or support small-scale facility and infrastructure projects (e.g., dehydration, compression, gathering).
- Prepare and review production forecasts, decline analyses, and budget inputs.
- Assist with MOC documentation, facility updates, and field development planning.
- Provide engineering support for abandonment and reclamation strategies, where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- 5–7 years of oil and gas experience, preferably in gas production operations.
- APEGA registration or eligibility for registration.
- Solid understanding of shallow gas well behavior, compression systems, and gathering infrastructure.
- Proven experience with surveillance systems and data analysis tools.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Additional Information
- This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, with periodic travel to the field as operational needs require.
- The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility to support field activities.
