Job summary

GoodMorning.com is seeking a Product Development Specialist to join the Consumer Product Development team on a 6 to 12-month temporary contract. You will help bring our commercial vision to life by developing high-quality, innovative sleep products and writing precise specifications.

You will collaborate with Brand Management, Procurement, and other teams to execute initiatives from concept to completion, balancing cost, quality, and time-to-market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Garment Engineering, Product Development, or a related field; a Master's degree is an asset.
• 2-3 years of experience in product development, ideally in a support role within a cross-functional development environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing project-specific goals, including SLAs, KPIs, and data-informed improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency with product lifecycle management and engineering tools (e.g., CAD, PLM).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage tasks independently and achieve project milestones within a structured framework.
• Experience in vendor management is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Research industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturing constraints, and apply insights to develop high-quality, innovative sleep products.
• Create detailed technical specifications defining product functionality, performance criteria, and design requirements, collaborating with Brand Management.
• Execute product development initiatives from concept to completion, coordinating with Brand Management, Procurement, and other teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify resource needs and align with management direction to ensure successful delivery.
• Develop testing methodologies to evaluate products and benchmark against competitors for improvement opportunities.
• Drive product testing and validation, including test execution, documentation, and issue resolution to meet standards and requirements.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on product issues and propose corrective actions through to release.
• Evaluate product performance using customer feedback and propose modifications to improve functionality and durability.
• Engage with suppliers and partners to build relationships and apply data-backed analysis to enhance capabilities.
• Track and analyze performance metrics to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support process improvements by following compliance standards and risk protocols, safeguarding company interests.
• Implement and support a risk management framework to address potential disruptions.
• Contribute to project planning to align work with growth and sustainability goals.
• Provide subject-matter expertise to support decision-making and foster accountability and innovation.
• Promote open communication within and across departments to align strategies and outcomes.
