Job summary

GoodMorning.com Inc. Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is seeking a temporary Product Development Specialist to join the Consumer Product Development team for 6–12 months. You will craft specifications, own deliverables, and balance cost, quality, and time‑to‑market while collaborating with Brand Management and other teams.

You’ll develop testing methods, validate products, and drive improvements, with supplier engagement and data‑driven decision making to strengthen competitive advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Garment/ Product Development or related field.
  • 2–3 years of product development experience in a cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency with product lifecycle management and engineering tools (CAD, PLM).

Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends and manufacturing constraints to develop high‑quality sleep products.
  • Create detailed technical specifications defining functionality, performance, and design requirements.
  • Lead initiatives from concept through completion with scope, timing and quality accountability.
  • Collaborate with Brand Management, Procurement, and other teams to align resources and deliver projects.
  • Develop testing methodologies and drive validation, documenting results and resolving issues.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses and propose corrective actions before product release.
  • Engage with suppliers and external partners to strengthen technical capabilities.
  • Track performance metrics and use data insights to drive continuous improvement.

About the role

GoodMorning.com is seeking a Product Development Specialist to join the Consumer Product Development team on a 6 to 12-month temporary contract. In this role, you will help bring our commercial vision to life by developing high-quality, innovative sleep products. Working closely with cross-functional teammates, you will expand our product portfolio by writing precise specifications, owning assigned deliverables, resolving challenges as they arise, and balancing cost, quality, and time-to-market. You will strengthen GoodMorning.com's competitive advantage by ensuring seamless project execution, driving continuous improvement, and supporting engineering objectives that align with broader company goals.

What you'll do

  • Researching industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturing constraints, and applying these insights to the development of high-quality, innovative sleep products.
  • Creating detailed technical specifications that define product functionality, performance criteria, and design requirements, in collaboration with Brand Management, to ensure alignment with project goals and industry standards.
  • Executing assigned product development initiatives from concept through completion, with accountability for scope, timing, and quality, in coordination with Brand Management, Procurement, and other teams.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify resource needs and align with management direction, ensuring the successful delivery of Consumer Product Development projects.
  • Developing testing methodologies to evaluate GoodMorning.com products and competitor offerings, benchmarking quality and performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Driving product testing and validation, including owning test execution, documentation, and issue resolution, to verify performance, safety, durability, and quality against GoodMorning.com standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting root-cause analysis on product issues identified during Research & Development, testing, and owning corrective action proposals and follow-up through to resolution before product release.
  • Evaluating product performance using customer feedback, and proposing modifications that improve functionality, durability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Engaging with suppliers and external partners to build strong relationships, and applying data-backed analysis to enhance GoodMorning.com's technical capabilities.
  • Tracking and analyzing Consumer Product Development performance metrics, using data insights to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting process improvements by following compliance standards, monitoring project adherence to risk protocols, and safeguarding GoodMorning.com's interests.
  • Implementing and supporting a risk management framework that proactively identifies and addresses potential product or process disruptions, contributing to operational resilience.
  • Contributing to project planning sessions with insights that align Consumer Product Development work with company growth and sustainability goals.
  • Providing subject-matter expertise to support decision-making, upholding GoodMorning.com's commitment to top-quality products, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
  • Promoting open communication within Consumer Product Development and across departments to ensure alignment and clarity on product development strategies and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,Garment Engineering, Product Development, or a related field; a Master's degree is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of experience in product development, ideally in a support role within a cross-functional development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project-specific goals, including SLAs, KPIs, and data-informed improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency with product lifecycle management and engineering tools (e.g., CAD, PLM).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage tasks independently and achieve project milestones within a structured framework.
  • Experience in vendor management is an asset.
