Job summary

The MRG Group in Toronto seeks a seasoned Producer to lead the planning and execution of festivals and events within its Eastern Canadian portfolio. This hands-on role combines technical production, client management, financial acumen, and project leadership.

Based in Toronto, you will oversee budgets, schedules, permitting, site infrastructure, vendors, and stakeholder relationships, while collaborating with Production, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to deliver exceptional experiences.

Founded in 2008, MRG Live has grown to become Canada's leading independent concert and entertainment production company. It is now Canada's largest concert and entertainment promotion company, with expansion into the USA beginning in 2020. Annually, MRG Live produces over 1,000 events, utilizing MRG's nine owned, operated, or programmed venues. The company produces concerts across Canada and in key US markets, handling a range of venue sizes from clubs and theatres to arenas.

The MRG Group is Canada’s largest independent entertainment company, specializing in live entertainment, hospitality, ticketing, travel, and digital media.

Who You Are:

The Producer is responsible for leading the planning and execution of assigned festivals and events, with a particular focus on MRG Live's Eastern Canadian portfolio.

This is a hands‑on production role requiring a strong combination of technical production knowledge, client management, financial acumen, and project leadership. You will oversee multiple elements of event delivery, including budgets, production schedules, technical requirements, site infrastructure, vendors, permitting, and stakeholder relationships.

Based in Toronto, you will work closely with the Festivals & Events team and cross‑functionally with Production, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other MRG Live teams, while also supporting projects across Western Canada as required.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead the development and management of event timelines, production schedules, task lists, and workback schedules.
  • Manage and track assigned project budgets, forecasts, revenue targets and expenses, making adjustments as required to support overall event financial targets.
  • Collaborate with teams to support event revenue targets and the delivery of vendor and sponsorship sales and the delivery of associated commitments..
  • Arrange and attend client meetings, site visits, and production meetings, preparing project materials and documentation as required.
  • Support municipal clients and event partners agreements, and assist with permit applications (e.g., liquor licenses, venue permits, health authority approvals).
  • Coordinate with Operations, Production and other internal teams to ensure event deliverables are aligned and executed successfully.
  • Manage event-related financial administration, including invoicing, payments, talent deposits, and cheque requisitions.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, partners, and stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Anticipate production and operational risks and develop contingency plans for potential event disruptions, including weather, power failure and other unforeseen issues.
  • Support the resolution of production and operational issues involving contractors, partners, interest groups, and artists, and other stakeholders, while protecting the interests of both the client and the company
  • Prepare post‑production reports, reconcile project outcomes, and identify opportunities to improve future projects.
  • Oversee technical production, including staging, backline, artist production, site infrastructure, and technical staffing needs.
  • Coordinate suppliers, contractors, production partners, and site infrastructure to ensure event requirements are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee flow, site layout, site mapping, infrastructure and general event design.
  • Assist with calendar management, arranging meetings, and performing other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Provide production support across MRG Live's broader Canadian event portfolio as required.
What We're Looking For:
  • 7+ years experience of progressive experience in festival, live event, or large‑scale event production, with demonstrated ownership of complex event logistics and production
  • Demonstrable technical production knowledge, including experience with staging, backline, artist production, site infrastructure, and event operations
  • Experience coordinating project team members, vendors, production partners and contractors
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across clients, artists, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Proven ability to successfully manage large project budgets
  • Experienced and comfortable working with G Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar etc.) and project management software (Asana experience an asset)
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, competing priorities and maintain strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Growth & entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and initiative
  • Strong understanding of event permitting, insurance, operational planning and risk management
  • Understanding of sponsorship relationships in the context of live‑event and festival environments
  • Established relationships with event suppliers, production vendors, technical crews, and other industry resources are considered a strong asset
  • Post‑secondary education or certification in event production, event management, hospitality, project management, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Experience working with government clients, boards, committees, or stakeholder experience an asset
  • Ability to lift 50lb and work on‑site for extended periods, including standing and supporting event setup and teardown
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is required
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel based on the event schedule
