Job summary

Food World Plus at 50 Matheson, Mississauga is seeking an experienced Produce Manager for the grocery department. Salary range is $70,000-$80,000 per year. The role requires managing the produce team, inventory, pricing, merchandising and training new staff in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The successful candidate will lead a customer-focused team, ensure product quality and freshness, negotiate supplier terms, and drive improvements in store standards across the department.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in a produce department within a large-format retail environment.
• 3 years in a managerial role.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in merchandising/business management is considered an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Exceptional customer service skills with ability to build customer loyalty.
• Strong motivational, leadership and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and negotiate produce requirements to secure pricing, quality and delivery terms.
• Manage department inventory, in-stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising and labor to company standards.
• Ensure new department employees receive training and supervision.
• Schedule personnel to meet department needs based on volume.
• Record markups, markdowns, shrink, and write-offs per company policy.
• Respond to customer inquiries about merchandise and prices.
• Keep refrigerated cases and displays stocked and faced for maximum sales and freshness.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the department.
• Monitor sales performance.
