Job summary

Food World Plus Supermarket in Mississauga is seeking a Meat Department Manager to lead daily operations, ensure quality, sanitation, and food safety, and drive department profitability.

You will supervise staff, manage meat and seafood inventory, ensure halal and kosher handling standards, and deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in meat and/or seafood departments in a supermarket or grocery store.
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of meat cuts, handling, filleting, and merchandising.
• Experience handling Halal and Kosher meat products and understanding proper handling practices.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day meat department operations with emphasis on quality, cleanliness, and food safety.
• Supervise, train, and schedule department staff.
• Order, receive, and manage inventory for fresh and frozen meat products.
• Ensure proper cutting, filleting, packaging, labeling, and storage of products.
• Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and store policies.
• Monitor product freshness and minimize waste through inventory management.
• Ensure proper handling and segregation of Halal and Kosher meat products.
• Maintain attractive product displays and keep departments fully stocked.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product selection and special orders.
• Collaborate with store management to meet sales targets and maintain department profitability.
