Job summary

Summerhill Market in Toronto is seeking an experienced Produce Manager to lead a fast-moving department in our boutique grocery environment. You will drive quality, freshness, merchandising, and team development while ensuring top-notch customer service.

You'll manage day-to-day operations, inventory, scheduling, and labour alongside a hands-on leadership style. This role offers weekly pay, benefits for full-time staff, flexible scheduling, and a supportive, inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Produce Department in grocery or specialty retail.
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, merchandising, and inventory management.

What you’ll do

• Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the Produce Department
• Drive exceptional product quality, freshness, rotation, and presentation standards
• Manage inventory, ordering, shrink, and department profitability
• Coach, train, and develop team members to deliver excellent customer service
• Create visually impactful displays that inspire customers and maximize sales
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health & safety standards are consistently upheld
• Support scheduling, productivity, and labour management within the department
• Jump in wherever needed — this is a hands-on leadership role

• Previous Produce Department leadership experience in grocery or specialty retail
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, merchandising, and inventory management
