About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing North American organization in the recycling and environmental services industry, is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to build and lead its procurement function.

As Procurement Manager, you will take ownership of procurement strategy across multiple locations and business units throughout North America. You will be responsible for assessing the current procurement environment, identifying gaps and opportunities, developing standardized processes, implementing improvements, and measuring results.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, influencing stakeholders across the organization, and taking an active role in transforming how procurement operates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a centralized, enterprise-wide procurement strategy.
  • Review existing purchasing practices, SOPs, and workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement standardized procurement processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including RFQs and RFPs.
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, terms, and service agreements.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and enterprise-wide agreements.
  • Analyze organizational spend and identify measurable cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong strategic supplier relationships.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics, scorecards, and accountability measures.
  • Develop procurement KPIs, dashboards, and reporting for senior leadership.
  • Improve procurement workflows and processes within the ERP environment.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Logistics, IT, Facilities, Engineering, and senior leadership.
  • Drive adoption of new procurement processes across multiple locations.
  • Support continuous improvement and acquisition integration initiatives.Build a scalable procurement function that can grow with the organization.
  • Eventually lead, mentor, and develop Procurement Coordinator support.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a procurement professional who has progressed beyond transactional purchasing and has demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, spend analysis, and process improvement.

The ideal candidate is someone who can walk into a decentralized procurement environment and identify:

  • What the organization is buying and from whom.
  • Where spending can be consolidated.
  • Where supplier relationships can be optimized.
  • Where enterprise agreements can create savings.
  • Which procurement processes need to be standardized.
  • How supplier performance should be measured.
  • How procurement can become more strategic and scalable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive procurement experience.
  • Strong strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation experience.
  • Experience developing or significantly improving procurement processes.
  • Experience leading RFQs and RFPs.
  • Demonstrated spend analysis and cost-saving experience.
  • Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Experience developing procurement KPIs, dashboards, or reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial judgment and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and implement change without direct authority.
  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of a function.

Microsoft Business Central experience is not mandatory for candidates with strong transferable ERP and procurement experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • SCMP, CPSM, CPPS, or equivalent designation.
  • Multi-site procurement experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Industrial services experience.
  • Recycling, waste management, or environmental services experience.
