Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced injection molding supervisor to lead process optimization, maintenance, and automation initiatives at our Aurora facility. You will supervise technicians, refine cycle times, and ensure adherence to master processes while fostering a safe, collaborative work environment.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in hydraulics/pneumatics, Lean manufacturing (SMED), and hands-on leadership with coaching abilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of direct/indirect supervision in injection molding.
• University degree in mechanical engineering or mold making certification.
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing (SMED) and continuous improvement.
• Proven hands-on leadership with coaching and empowerment examples.
• Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain best-practice injection molding processes to improve cycle times without compromising quality.
• Ensure machines run to master processes and report deviations promptly.
• Maintain process standards and drive continuous improvements in production.
• Oversee maintenance of hydraulic, hybrid, and electric molding machines and related equipment.
• Lead robotics/automation tasks including EOAT adjustments and minor program edits.
• Coordinate with shifts to resolve tech and quality issues and train staff.

Job description

Major Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain best practice injection molding process, target parameters to improve cycle time while maintaining high quality standards.

Ensure that all production processes are established, benchmarked, backed up and maintained and that all molding employees are trained

Commissioning of new equipment: robots, IMMs, molds achieving forecasted cycle times

Fostering a working environment that is fair and equitable and promotes sharing learning and training.

Suggest tool design modification to run tools faster with reliable process.

Following and complying with Cube Management System (CMS)

Required Duties:

Ensure all machines are running to master process and communicate when master process is deviated.

Maintain the process standards in which all parts are manufactured.

Maintain best possible injection molding process parameters and cycle times.

Communicate with previous and next shift to understand any technical or quality issues.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

Injection Molding Machinery

Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic, hybrid, and electric injection molding machines.

Troubleshoot issues related to hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, leaks, pressures, and actuators.

Identify and repair electrical faults, including sensors, relays, heaters, thermocouples, limit switches, and safety interlocks.

Maintain and repair clamp systems, ejector systems, platen alignment, tie-bars, lubrication systems, and mechanical wear components.

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and complete required documentation.

Inspect and maintain barrel assemblies, heater bands, wiring, and cooling channels.

Robotics & Automation

Perform adjustments and repairs to end-of-arm tooling (EOAT).

Diagnose robot I/O issues and perform minor program edits for recovery.

Maintain and troubleshoot downstream automation equipment such as conveyors, separators, and handling systems.

Auxiliary Equipment

Maintain and troubleshoot auxiliary equipment, including resin dryers and loaders, blenders, grinders, temperature control units (TCUs), chillers, and hot runner temperature controllers.

Inspect and repair water, air, and vacuum lines associated with molding operations.

General Maintenance

Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.

Perform mechanical repairs using machine tools such as grinders, drill presses, and lathes (as required).

Follow all safety rules, SOPs, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Provide support on facility-related projects and preventative maintenance tasks.

Education and Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of experience in direct/indirect supervision and injection molding machine processing to produce molded parts.

University Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or accredited mold making program or relevant College Technical Certification

Minimum three (3) years of experience using Lean Manufacturing methodologies, i.e. SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die)

Minimum three (3) years of experience developing Continuous Improvements in production processes.

Demonstrated hands‑on leadership and coaching abilities – able to demonstrate several examples of empowering, developing and motivating people

Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics

Basic tooling background an asset

Must have computer skills (Microsoft Office experience required)

Experience in crane, scissor lift and forklift an asset

Hourly Rate: $40
