Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate preferred.
  • Experience in setup/operation of molding machinery in ISO environment is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the injection molding department.

  • Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate mold changeovers and production setups.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and minimize downtime with maintenance and engineering.
  • Verify products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Enforce workplace safety policies and train staff.
  • Maintain production, scrap, downtime, and labor records.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling, and Supply Chain.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support lean, 6S, and continuous improvement programs.

Job description

The Injection Molding Assistant Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the injection molding production team. This role ensures efficient production, maintains product quality, enforces safety standards, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The Assistant Supervisor coordinates personnel, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules while minimizing downtime and waste.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the injection molding department.
  • Adhere to work schedules and monitor employee performance.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate/perform mold changeovers and production setups.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work with maintenance and Manufacturing Engineer to minimize downtime.
  • Verify that all products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Enforce workplace safety policies.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate machine operators, and maintenance technicians, and production staff.
  • Maintain accurate production, scrap, downtime, and labor records.
  • Monitor material usage and reduce waste through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling, and Supply Chain departments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support lean manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Any other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Preferred technical certificate or post-secondary education in mechanical field and or 2 years’ experience in a mid-sized company performing setup/operation of machines in an ISO environment.
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of trades such as electrical, machining, plumbing etc.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and inquisitive in finding the cause of the problems when machines breakdown.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to keep all lines of communication open within production and management levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Must be proficient in written & spoken English.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • High school diploma.
  • 5–10 years of injection molding manufacturing experience.
  • 2–5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, mold setup, and processing parameters.
  • Familiarity with plastics materials and resin handling.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules, technical drawings, and quality documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, heat, and moving equipment.
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or rotating shifts based on production demands.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The physical requirements are standing; walking; reaching; grasping including good finger dexterity; crouching; bending and flexing the arms, legs and wrists; climbing stairs and ladders; and lifting 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs for brief periods.
Shift Timings - 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Weekends availability required
Pay rate - $30 - $35 rate per hour + afternoon shift premium.
