Job summary

G&W Canada Corporation in Brampton, Ontario, is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to lead mold set-up, changeovers, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and tooling readiness within the molding operation.

You will ensure tooling is properly configured, maintained, and production-ready, coordinate with Tooling Engineering and Molding personnel, document maintenance activities, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or Skill trade certification in mechanical techniques, Millwright or Tool and Die.
  • Experience in mold setup, mold maintenance, tooling, injection molding or related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and drawing / technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mold set-up and changeovers with production planning and molding operations.
  • Verify mold configurations and setup readiness prior to production start.
  • Conduct mold breakdown and teardown after production runs.
  • Execute preventive and planned maintenance on molds (cleaning, inspection, lubrication, wear part replacement).
  • Inspect molds and components for wear or damage, including bushings, pins, inserts, and fasteners.
  • Troubleshoot mold-related production issues and identify root causes.
  • Coordinate with Tooling Engineering, Molding personnel, and contractors to resolve tooling issues.
  • Maintain mold storage, tooling records, and traceability.
  • Document maintenance activities using established systems and forms.
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for mold reliability and downtime reduction.
  • Maintain safe work practices and compliance with safety standards.
  • Train and support team members on standardized setup and maintenance procedures.

This role ensures tooling is properly configured, maintained, and production-ready to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing performance. The Mold Maintenance role serves as a key link between molding operations, tooling engineering, and process engineering by supporting mold reliability, minimizing downtime, and identifying tooling issues requiring corrective action or escalation.

Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or Skill trade certification in one of the following; mechanical techniques, Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) or Tool and Die.
  • Must have experience in mold setup, mold maintenance, tooling, injection molding, or related manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude complimented with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, presses, and measuring devices
  • Experience performing basic electrical troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, mechanical repairs. Carpentry and painting and contractor coordination.
  • Ability to identify tooling wear and mechanical issues
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and hoists
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualification
  • Mold repair experience
  • Millwright or Mechanical experience
  • Skill Trades Certification (Millwright, Tool & Die)
  • Blueprint reading
  • GD&T familiarity
  • Root-cause problem-solving
  • Lean/5S knowledge

Pay Range is typically between $23.14 to $31.51 per hour
