Job summary

The City of Brampton is seeking a Firefighter for Brampton Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters. This union, full-time position offers opportunities to respond to emergencies, perform firefighting and rescue operations, and deliver public fire safety education.

Starting salary is $74,096 per year with annual increments. Applicants must meet extensive qualifications and obtain required certifications within 18 months; a strong commitment to community service is essential.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or academic equivalent.
• Possess NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II certification with proof of Pro Board or IFSAC.
• Possess valid Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
• Ontario Class D driver’s license with Z endorsement and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• In This Highly Visible Role, You Will serve humanity and protect the community.
• Respond to emergencies when called upon; combat fires.
• Perform rescue operations and provide medical assistance in emergencies.
• Maintain firefighting equipment and department property.
• Educate the public on fire safety and inspect properties for hazards.
• Operate state-of-the-art apparatus and equipment.
• Support community events as a public safety ambassador.
• Participate in ongoing learning to advance skills and knowledge.
