Job summary

Winpak is seeking an Assistant to join the Printing Department in Winnipeg on an 8-hour rotating shift. You will assist the Operator with safe press operation and work toward developing the skills to run the press. This role is onsite at Murray Industrial Park in Winnipeg.

Ideal candidates communicate clearly, can lift up to 50 pounds, and have 6+ months of tool experience. The position involves rotating days, nights, and afternoons and working on the production floor with potential for skill

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members (verbal and written).
  • Willingness to work a rotating 8-hour shift (days/nights/afternoons).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg).
  • 6+ months of experience with hand and/or power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operator with order preparation to minimize downtime and waste.
  • Support safe, efficient press operation with a focus on continuous production.
  • Monitor viscosities and Auto Viscosity controls to maintain colour consistency.
  • Assist with maintenance and cleaning of printing presses and related equipment.
  • Assist on housekeeping and department cleanliness, and move materials with lift trucks.
  • Provide training to staff to develop skills, performance and safety practices.

Job description

Assistant – Printing Department

Winpak is seeking an Assistant to join their Printing Department based out of Winnipeg on an 8-hour rotating shift. In this role you will assist the Operator with the safe operation of the press. The Assistant is expected to work towards developing the skills required to safely operate and run the assigned press.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Operator with the preparation of orders for the shift to minimize down time and reduce production scrap/waste.
  • Assist the Operator with the safe and efficient running of the press with the emphasis on maintaining continuous operation of the machine.
  • Ensure consistent colour on press by accurately monitoring viscosities at regular intervals; monitor and maintain Auto Viscosity controls in good working order.
  • Assist with general maintenance and lubrication of the printing presses.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness within the department.
  • Operate lift trucks safely and efficiently to move materials as needed.
  • Monitor press while Operator is on breaks or in meetings.
  • Provide training as needed to employees to ensure proper skills development, job performance and safe work protocols.
Required Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience clearly communicating with team members both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts including days, nights, and afternoons.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg).
  • 6+ months of experience with hand and/or power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of experience with equipment and/or machinery (not limited to lawn mowers, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, cranes, balers).
  • 6+ months of experience in manufacturing and/or production environment.
  • 6+ months of experience in with printing presses.
  • The Printing Assistant position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
  • We are located in Murray Industrial Park. There are limited bus services to this location.
8-Hour Shift Rotation:
  • Week 1 - Monday to Friday 7:00 - 3:00 (days)
  • Week 2 - Monday to Friday 23:00 - 7:00 (nights)
  • Week 3 - Monday to Friday 3:00 - 23:00 (afternoons)
  • Week 4 - Repeat rotation starting at week 1
