Job summary

Myticas Consulting Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, seeks a Principal Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to own end-to-end architecture for advanced optical devices. The role is a one-year contract based in Ottawa with global collaboration across sites.

You will define system architecture, lead technical decisions on security and boot/OTA, mentor engineers, and drive quality through diagnostics and tests. The position requires 15+ years in embedded systems and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering with embedded software experience.
• 15+ years of embedded systems design and development.
• Deep understanding of RTOS, multithreaded software, operating-system concepts, and bare-metal development.
• Experience with secure boot, cryptography, threat modeling, boot/OTA, and security.
• Knowledge of optical devices and OTN standards preferred.
• Strong object-oriented design and design-pattern expertise.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end embedded architecture from requirements to release readiness.
• Define system architecture across MCUs, RTOS or bare-metal, drivers, power, OTA, security.
• Collaborate with hardware, architecture, and manufacturing to align schematics and data sheets.
• Establish architecture standards, coding guidelines, and reusable platform layers.
• Lead technical decisions on cost, performance, power, and time-to-market.
• Drive quality and reliability through diagnostics, failure analysis, and standards.
• Mentor development and test engineers and guide design reviews.
