Job summary

Myticas Consulting seeks a Principal Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to own end-to-end embedded architecture for advanced optical devices. This one-year contract is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities include defining system architecture, implementing hands-on solutions across MCUs and RTOS stacks, and coordinating with hardware and manufacturing teams to ensure release readiness. Strong leadership and security experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of embedded systems design and development experience.
• Strong knowledge of RTOS, multithreaded software, and OS concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end embedded architecture and solutions from requirements to release readiness.
• Define system architecture and implement hands-on solutions across MCUs, RTOS, drivers, and security.
• Partner with hardware, architecture, and manufacturing teams to align schematics and data sheets.
• Establish architecture standards and patterns, including coding guidelines and reusable platform layers.
• Lead technical decisions involving cost, performance, power, and time-to-market trade-offs; document rationale.
• Drive quality and reliability through diagnostics, failure analysis, and robust testing.
• Mentor development and test engineers and lead design reviews.
