Job summary

TMX Group is recruiting a Principal Automation Engineer to lead infrastructure automation across TMX Group. You will drive a Platform Engineering model focusing on self-hosted datacenters and define an enterprise IaC roadmap using Ansible and Terraform across a hybrid-cloud stack.

You will guide the integration of Generative AI tools to enhance automation, provide architectural governance, and establish automated guardrails for security and compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Automation, or Platform Engineering in an enterprise context.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant job experience.
• Deep expertise in self-hosted physical datacenters with RedHat Linux (8, 9, 10) and fundamentals like PXE, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, LVM/XFS, firewall/SSH, and performance tuning.
• Proven expertise in IaC strategies using Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience with OpenShift Container Platform/Virtualization and VMware; familiarity with RedHat Satellite.
• Familiarity with on‑premise storage (NetApp, PURE) and container-native storage (Portworx).
• Experience in observability platforms such as Splunk and Grafana; strong Python skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills for enterprise settings.
• Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI tools to automate complex workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the enterprise strategy for Platform Engineering and IaC for bare-metal and virtualized infrastructure.
• Lead architecture and implementation of datacenter technologies (PXE, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, LVM/XFS, NetApp, PURE, Portworx).
• Establish automated guardrails for security and compliance within a regulated financial environment.
• Spearhead Generative AI tool integration (Copilot/Claude) to augment engineering velocity and autonomous operations.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to Automation and Systems Engineers.
