Thomson Reuters in Toronto, ON, is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to help design and evolve cloud-native platforms powering AI-driven workloads for the Materia AI initiative. You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and build scalable, secure infrastructure across multi-cloud environments.

This role emphasizes production engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring, with collaboration across AI/ML, frontend, product, and SRE teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in backend development, platform engineering, production engineering, or SRE.
• Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining a backend service and client interfaces for internal teams and customers.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures, containers, orchestration, storage, networking, IAM, IaC, secrets, and messaging.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Curiosity for agentic software paradigms and a commitment to high-quality, reliable systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve scalable cloud-native platform services.
• Lead reference CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Playwright, and Snyk.
• Develop Go tools to streamline developer workflows from local development to production.
• Establish and improve DORA metrics to optimize velocity and quality of product delivery.
• Collaborate with AI/ML, frontend, product, and SRE teams to deliver AI-native products.
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices in a fast-paced environment.
