Position Summary

The Primary Care Land Ambulance Program at Ornge is a core component of our mission to overcome time and distance when it matters most. Paramedics in this program support patients under the care of advanced paramedic crews by ensuring they reach the necessary care. Maintaining readiness of assets is essential, and paramedics are responsible for ensuring their equipment is in a constant state of readiness.

Qualifications
  • Current Primary Care Paramedic certification in good standing with a provincial Base Hospital.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a fully certified Primary Care Paramedic.
  • Meets qualifications outlined in the Ambulance Act/Ontario Regulations 257/00, including:
    • MOH Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) certificate
    • Valid F Class (or higher) Driver’s License with satisfactory Driver Abstract
    • Valid CPR for Healthcare Professionals and/or ACLS
    • Valid immunizations and confirmation of freedom from communicable diseases as per MOH standards
    • Completion of Ornge Aeromedical Theory Program and MOH Aeromedical Theory Certificate (considered an asset)
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening process within 90 days of employment.
Hours and Location of Work
  • Various shifts, including day, night, weekends, and statutory holidays in a 24/7 environment.
  • Overnight stays away from home base may be required.
  • Candidates must reside near or be willing to relocate to the assigned base area.
  • Use of respiratory protective equipment is required, and candidates must be clean-shaven for proper fit to ensure health and safety.
